Learning To Skate

On Tuesday night Brent took Mesele skating with the Youth Group. This was his first time on skates and he was SO excited to be able to go!
He had lots of youth willling to help him as he tried to get his balance and figure out how in the world this skating thing was supposed to work!He fell down many times (thank goodness for helmets!)........

...but he would always get back up and continue on his way! After about 45 minutes of skating, he could make his way around all by himself. He's quite proud of his accomplishment and will gladly tell you all about it if you let him!

The Terminators!

Don't these look like two of the toughest little men you've ever seen? I wouldn't want to run into them in a back alley in Osler!
Grandma and Grandpa Klassen got them these NERF guns for Christmas and the boys just love them. They don't have the most accurate shots, but at least they are enthusiastic!
They lay down on the floor, take "careful" aim at the targets, and.....

......they don't hit anything!

Oh well, at least we know they can only get better from here!

Me and My Hotrod!

One of the gifts that Mesele and Abinet got for Christmas was this little inflatable Lightning McQueen. It hooks up to the TV and they sit inside the car and drive through various races. It's pretty cute to watch them run into bales, combines, tractors, or just fall off the track. They don't care, they just crank that steering wheel until they are back on the track and put the pedal to the medal again! (can't wait until they get the driver's for real......)
You gotta love the shades, too!

Abinet had a blast driving, but I have a feeling it won't be long until neither of them will fit into this car anymore!

From Mountains to Molehills

On Christmas morning, Mesele and Abinet got these new sleds from Grandma and Grandpa. I'm not sure they new exactly what "sleds" were, but they were excited anyways!
All the kids were soon outside, building sledding runs down the hill in the backyard. There were 4 runs in all, and they all merged into one lane at the bottom.
Some lanes had jumps where you could get some pretty good air! Yes, we had some wipeouts and faceplants, and even the odd tear did fall, but overall everyone had a really good time.

Once we got home to Saskatchewan, the boys wanted to go sledding in our backyard. Well, I'm not sure if you have all seen our yard, but we have NO hill whatsoever!
That didn't stop these boys. They saw the little pile of snow that is in the front yard from when Daddy shovels the driveway and they got all excited! They pulled out their sleds and enjoyed the VERY short ride to the bottom!

They had a good time, and that's all that matters!

The LONG drive....

It was a long, hard, and boring drive out to BC for these two little men. They would play for awhile, then ask, "are we there?", then play for awhile, then be LOUD for a long while, until finally Mommy said, "SLEEP!"
...and they did! They didn't necessarily find the most comfortable positions, but they did sleep and all was quiet for a little while!

Then came Christmas morning, and the excitement really began! They dug into their stockings and each time they pulled something out, they would ask, "for me, Mommy?" It was cute, and they were happy!

Merry Christmas! (for the third time, now. Only one more to go!)

Best Buds at Christmas

On our way out to BC, we love to stop in and see friends of ours. Duff and Jen adopted Gedion and Taye, and they are BEST friends with Mesele and Abinet! Even though they don't get to see eachother that often, they always seem to pick up right where they left off.On this particular visit, wrestling was high on the list of things to do. They whipped off their shirts and just went at it! I think we just might have some future wrestlers here because they had some pretty amazing moves!! (notice how Mesele is winning this fight....)

After a good workout, they cuddle together on the couch and watch a movie. They just look so cute that Jen and I couldn't help but snap some more pictures!

Thanks for such a great time!! We look forward to the next one!

Our First Family Christmas!

After MANY years of celebrating Christmas with just Brent and myself, we finally got to have a family Christmas of our own! It was so fun to watch the curious looks that the boys had as they watched me set out Christmas decorations and set up a Christmas tree. It didn't take too long before they figured out that some of those presents under the tree were actually for them!
We read the Christmas story from the Bible, took a family picture, and then opened a few gifts.

Abinet was quite proud of his Veggie Tales puzzles! (he's done them many times already!)

Mesele got a more difficult CARS puzzle! (i thought it was difficult, but he proved me wrong in no time at all!)
Our first family Christmas was SO fun and I look forward to MANY more celebrations together as a family!
